Post-Surgical, Mastectomy Bras, and
Breast Forms
Braserie, Dearie! is proud to offer mastectomy garments for immediate post-surgery bras, to breast forms, pocketed bras, and pocketed camis and swimwear. We do not file insurance claims, but many customers have been successfully reimbursed when filing themselves. Call your private insurer for more information. Medicare will only cover purchases from medical supply stores.
How to Care for Your Bras
Hand wash in cool water and hang to dry. Braserie, Dearie! carries everything you need to keep your bras in good condition. If machine washing, hook bras and place in a mesh bag. We recommend the use of Ovacion Soap or Forever New rather than detergent. Detergents (including “free and clear”) will quickly destroy the spandex in bras causing them to stretch out.
How Long Should Bras Last?
It all depends on you! It is wise to have a wardrobe of three to five bras which are rotated throughout the week and washed after one to three wears with a lingerie wash (not detergent). Bras must never be placed in a dryer. A well-cared-for bra should last six months or up to a year. Special-occasion bras may last for years. Sports bras should be replaced more often. When your bra starts moving up your back, straps begin to fall, it becomes uncomfortable, or shows signs of wear, it is time to replace it.
