FAQs

Do you hate bras? Are you constantly yanking them down, pulling up straps and falling out of the cups? Carol Bowersox, owner of Braserie, Dearie! answers some of the most frequently asked questions.

Why is finding a good-fitting bra such a hassle?

Department stores carry a limited range of sizes, usually 34 to 44 C, D, and DD. They also carry the brands that accent quantity over quality. (Buy one, get one.) Not all bras are true to size so a 38D may need to be tweaked to a 36DD or 40C in another style. Going in and out of the dressing room to select bras is exhausting and confusing. There is no one to help.

What is the most common mistake women make when selecting bras?

Most women choose bras with bands too large and cups too small, resulting in a bra that moves. It rides up in the back, straps fall down, the breasts fall out of the cup, and wires pinch.

What size bras does Braserie, Dearie! carry?

We carry sizes 30 to 54 in cup sizes AA, A, B, C, D, DD, DDD, E, F, FF, G, GG, H, HH, I, J, and K, including those very hard to find sizes such as 44A and 32H.

What types of bras do you carry?

We carry underwire, non-wire, sports, leisure, minimizer, post-surgical, strapless, mastectomy, nursing, and cami-bras.

What types of items do you offer for post-mastectomies?

We have about a dozen styles of bras, bathing suits, cami-bras, and breast forms.

Do you file insurance claims?

No we do not, however many customers have successfully filed with their private carriers themselves.

How can a bra relieve back and neck pain?

The average size woman, 38D, carries about eight pounds of weight on her chest. Some women’s breast weigh up to 25 pounds or more. A snug band and generous cup will take the strain off the spine.

How long does a bra fitting take?

On average, 30 minutes or less. You will be assigned a fitter who will measure you and take bras into the dressing room for you to try. You will choose which ones feel and look best with no pressure from your fitter.

Isn’t it easier to buy on-line?

Purchasing bras on-line is frustrating. Unless you have been fitted and know exactly what styles you need, chances are, you’ll be returning them. The formula for determining size (measure around the ribcage and add three to five inches; measure around the bustline and select cups based on that number) only works sometimes.

What brands do you carry?

We carry 20 brands and 80 styles of bras mostly in beige, white, and black. Styles include Amoena, Anita, Wacoal, Elomi, Goddess, Fantasie, Chantelle, Glamorise, Lunaire, Bravado, b.tempted, Shapeez, Joy, and Fashion Forms.
